Stephen C. Dengler, CAC-AD -
Site Founder & Creative Director
stephen@fathermartin.com

I was born in Baltimore, MD in 1956. I attended a private high school and graduated from the Maryland Institute of Art. I struggled with addiction beginning in my early teens and continued into my late 30's. I eventually got clean and sober at the age of 39, at which point my life began to change. After completing a 28 day program, I lived at the Mann House, a halfway house for chronic male relapsers, in Bel Air, MD for one year. I stayed there as a house manager for three more years. While there, I obtained my education and trained to become a licensed addictions counselor, as well as a Board Approved Clinical Supervisor in the State of Maryland. After my tenure at the Mann House, I was given the opportunity to serve as Executive Director of Phoenix Recovery Center, an IOP substance abuse treatment program in Edgewood, Maryland. In June of 2005, I became a co-owner of Phoenix Recovery Center and have retained my position as Executive Director.
Having seen Father Martin's films both in treatment and having incorporated his work into my personal recovery program, I happily accepted the opportunity to oversee the development of this site. In addition to serving as the Site Founder & Creative Director at FatherMartin.com, I also act as the COO of Kelly Productions, Inc., the original home of Father Martin Films.
I am honored to share in the responsibility of carrying Father Martin's message
and adding to his already unmatched legacy. The time I have been able to spend
in the presence of Father Martin and Mae Abraham have undoubtedly made this
experience unforgettable. Addiction treatment is continually undergoing changes
and while I subscribe to many of the new treatment modalities, I strongly support
the continued use of the basic building blocks of recovery, nowhere better
expressed than in Father Martin's body of work. I believe Father Martin's
message must never be forgotten. Through this new social networking site,
this vision can occur.
